Use & attribution
You're welcome to quote this work — just say where it came from
© 2026 CritField. Short version: quote, screenshot, and share with credit and a link; don't republish the research wholesale as your own.
What you may do
Quote, discuss, summarize, screenshot, and share findings from CritField in articles, videos, talks, newsletters, and social posts — provided you clearly credit CritField and link back to this project (https://critfield.com/).
What we ask you not to do
Don't copy, mirror, or republish substantial parts of the research — the analysis, the tables, the visual design, or the written text — as your own work or without attribution. Short quotes with credit are always fine; wholesale republication without permission is not.
Suggested citation
For a specific number, add the chapter, e.g. "CritField, Steam Reviews 202K study, chapter 01: Lifecycle."
Caveats travel with the numbers
All findings published by CritField are correlational and carry the caveats stated alongside them: no causal claims, no same-player tracking over time, no generalization to all of Steam. If you quote a number, please carry its caveat with it. Reuse does not imply endorsement.
Independence
CritField is an independent research project, not affiliated with any storefront, publisher, or platform. Findings are ours, and so are any mistakes — which we correct in the open.
Trademarks
Steam is a trademark of Valve Corporation. CritField is an independent research project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve. "CritField" is used here as a project/brand name; no trademark registration is claimed, and this notice is not legal advice. Public legal text should receive professional review before any commercial use.
Corrections & permissions
Corrections and permission requests for larger reuse go to [email protected]; questions about method or the data behind a figure go to [email protected]. All routes are listed on the contact page. The methodology answers most questions about how the numbers were produced.
